Roses are red

Home news

Whitby Dene is a hive of activity as residents and staff get ‘red-y’ for a day of Valentine’s celebrations on Tuesday.

The Whitby Road home will be a riot of red as staff, residents and their relatives don red tops and celebrate the day with a red heart-themed day.

Activities coordinator Mark Winter said: “We are already busy making cards and we are making hearts of all sizes to decorate the home.

“We are making themed food too and there will be jam tarts with a heart centre and red cakes for everyone to enjoy.”

Local singer Dave Dawson will be providing the entertainment and taking residents requests for a sing-along.

Mark said: “Many of our residents have husbands or wives outside of the home and we try to make it as special a day as we can. Just because you have moved into a home doesn’t mean you have to stop celebrating special times with your special person.”
