Time for a cuppa? Sunningdale Court care home raises funds for dementia charity

Home news

Residents at Care UK’s Sunningdale Court are opening their home to the public to raise money for Dementia UK as part of Time for a Cuppa day, on Monday 27th February between 2-4pm.

Time for a Cuppa is about bringing people together across the country to hold an event at home, in the workplace or in the community to help raise much-needed funds to support the work of Dementia UK, a charity dedicated to improving life for people with dementia.

Linda Portlock, who manages the home in Birkdale Way, Hull, said: “Our kitchen team will be busy making cakes and staff have offered to make and buy cakes to bring in for the event. Our residents particularly enjoy decorating cupcakes and biscuits with lots of different coloured icings and sprinkles.”

The cakes will be sold to eat at the event with a cuppa or to take home and enjoy. Linda said: “Residents and friends always turn out in force for our events and this is a charity close to many people’s hearts. We are also inviting the community to join in the fun and fundraising for this very worthwhile cause.

“Our residents are always very pleased to show off their home and they love having children at our events.”

As well as the cake stands and teas residents will also have fun taking part in a race day. Linda explained. Many of our residents have enjoyed going to the races throughout their lives so the DVD race days are always good fun. Instead of having money change hands we have red and blue cards for wins and loses – the person with the most blue cards at the end wins.”
