Arts and crafts played a big part in our preparations for the Queen's diamond jubilee celebrations.
To celebrate the occasion we hosted a garden party in the Bronte gardens for our residents, friends and family along with guests from Creative Support and their clients.
In preparation for the party we had lots of fun making our own bunting by using finger painting to decorate our flags. We also created bunting with glitter and other materials and used these to decorate our home and gardens.
Our home manager, Beverley also enjoyed taking part in the preparations and made us a crown for our jubilee display in reception which included bunting, a display with a lovely book for residents and visitors to read and a 3 tier union jack stand with sweets on for all to enjoy.
Our garden party was definitely one to remember and included our very own Queen (one of the resident’s relatives) who greeted all of our guests.
Providing the entertainment was vocalist Stevie D, who is a big favourite at Riverside, with his music from across the decades.
There was a barbeque and a range of great British cakes such as Victoria Sponge, Bakewell Tarts, and jam & cream scones.
We also staged a number of traditional British garden games such as tin can alley, ring a bottle and coconut shy.
