Sandwiches and a sing-song help us celebrate the Diamond Jubilee

Home news

We will be hoping for good weather on Tuesday 5th June as we celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee with a garden party for our friends and family.

Residents have already been busy creating bunting, banners and flags for the event and they will be up bright and early on the big day, making the sandwiches and decorating the cakes for the celebration tea.

Mark Winter, our Activities Coordinator, said: “Everyone is very excited. We have entertainers, so there is bound to be a sing-along, and everyone loves to share special fun times with their relatives, many of who will be visiting on the day.”

Mark said there has been lots of reminiscing during the craft sessions as residents have made the decorations. He said: “It is great - it has brought back lots of memories of past parties and royal events and people have talked about what they did during other royal events. I’ve learnt a lot about how people celebrated in Mitcham in the past.”
