Lots of planning and hard work went in to making Addington Heights jubilee celebrations a great success.
Residents decorated a card filled with their own messages to congratulate the Queen including “Congratulations for being such a wonderful queen for sixty years”, and “Elizabeth you have held secure our freedom, democracy and justice within the rule of law, so all your people live their lives and sleep secure”.
These cards were displayed with a decorated replica crown in our reception area. They will now be posted to the Queen on behalf of the residents.
Residents also made their own collages depicting Queen Elizabeth throughout her life including her service in the armed forces, as a loving mother and travelling around the world as a constitutional monarch. They also created the table decorations making union jack flags, pom poms, crowns, roses, as well as decorating the veranda.
Our party was attended by residents’ relatives and Sally, who lives in the community, who made 72 cupcakes decorated with crowns and flowers. A member of staff made three Victoria sponge cakes and individual jellies which went down a treat with everyone. There was music and the national anthem was played followed by a short speech on behalf of the Queen. Residents from other cultures celebrated, by wearing traditional outfits and handmade crowns.
There was a raffle with proceeds going into our amenity fund which will contribute to future outside activities and special events.
We are happy to arrange interviews with a range of experts, commentary on industry issues and site visits for filming, photography or sound recording. Please get in touch with your requirements and we will do our best to arrange a suitable response.
