A weekend of song and dance for young people at Copthorne residential home

Home news

The halls and lounges of Care UK’s Francis Court residential home, in Copthorne, were filled with the sound of music this weekend as children and young people from the county joined in a weekend of song and dance.

To start the weekend, youngsters aged from two to five years old, from the Inspire Academy of Dance, visited to put on a dance show for the residents.

Home Manager Scarlett Macdonald said it was a great success. She said: “The residents love it when we have young visitors to the home. Many are grandparents and quite a few have enjoyed dancing, so they really looked forward to seeing the performance.”

Next up, to perform were students from Stagecoach stage school, in Haywards Heath, who joined residents for an old-fashioned sing-along.

The group of 16–17 year olds sung a mixture of songs before spending some time with residents over refreshments.

Scarlett added: “Our residents will have a sing-along at the drop of a hat and they love the energy and enthusiasm of young people. I think we all enjoy raising the rafters!”
