Christmas and our month of fun

Company news

December was a whirlwind of fun and activity, as residents and the team at Chalfont Court celebrated Christmas with daily trips, visits and parties.

Activities Coordinator, Emily Simpson, said: “It was a great month. Everyone had an opportunity to join in with their favourite activities and they were joined by their relatives for many of the events.”

Activities included a boat trip down the Thames to Greenwich and a visit to a German market, lunch at a local pub, a visit to see the pantomime Peter Pan at the Watersmeet Theatre and a performance, at Chalfont Court, of Mother Goose that involved a sing-along and dancing to many of the residents’ favourite songs.

Emily said: “We have lots of friends in our local community, so residents were delighted when they were invited to St John’s Primary School to see their nativity production and those who couldn’t make the trip did not miss out, as 30 children from the school came to visit us to perform carols.”

The home’s friends at the Baptist Church in Rickmansworth, which they regularly visit, invited residents to their Christmas party and they also visited the home to sing carols.

There were also lots of entertainers, including Emily’s mother and father who visited with their folk music group and performed traditional Appalachian dances and there were Christmas songs from the Watford Operatic Society, when they joined in with Christmas party.

Emily said: “It was so nice to hear all the families’ positive feedback from a fun packed December.”
