Company news
Feb 04, 2013
It was a very special day for the residents of Blyford residential home in Lowestoft on 1st February when they were pampered by the Care UK team before going to a tea-dance hosted by Benjamin Britten High School in celebration of Dignity Action Day.
During the morning the home’s team offered hand massages and manicures and helped residents make corsages for their outfits in readiness for the tea dance, where they enjoyed home-made scones and cakes and a yester-year feel with music and a glitter-ball for the traditional ballroom dancing. The Care UK team also laid on a limousine for residents who wished to arrive in style and Coes donated bow ties for the gentlemen.
Andrew Hine, Headteacher, Benjamin Britten High School, said: “We always welcome requests to get involved with members of our local community and after receiving the call from the team at Blyford residential home we were more than happy to host the tea dance. Students studying the health and social care course helped out and the tea dance was a great success.”
Care UK’s Manager at Blyford residential home, Sharon Hurren, who organised the event with her team, said: “Benjamin Britten School is very well respected by our residents and team because the school has made itself a real part of our community and we often receive visits from students studying health and social care. We were delighted when they offered to host the tea party and make our celebrations extra special for Dignity Action Day.”
Dignity Action Day, a national day headed by Dignity Ambassador Dame Joan Bakewell, aims to ensure people who use care services are treated as individuals and are given choice, control and a sense of purpose in their daily lives.
