Sunderland Echo celebrates our stars

Home news

In a night to celebrate the very best in healthcare, two members of the team at Care UK’s Church View home have been recognised for their hard work and dedication.

This year’s Sunderland Echo Best of Health Awards sought to honour those unsung heroes who have made a difference to the lives of those who are ill or need care. Anybody who works in the health sector could be nominated, with colleagues, patients and members of the Wearside public able to nominate those they think deserved recognition.

Church View Senior Care Assistant, Lindsey Cleary, and Assistant Chef and Laundry Assistant, Tracey Ord, were nominated for the prestigious awards by Administrator Leesa Tallon.

At a glamorous awards ceremony, Tracey scooped the Customer Service Award while Lindsey was named as a finalist in the Carer Award category.

Leesa said: “I nominated Lindsey for the award because of her drive to go the extra mile to ensure everyone is well cared for. She works very hard with people with communications problems so that she can ensure they have what they want and that their care plans reflect them as individuals.

“I nominated Tracey for the customer service award because she understands that true dignity starts with choice and she works hard to ensure that residents get the food they enjoy.”

Tracey said: “I felt really honoured to have been nominated for this award and felt proud and privileged to have won.

“I have been working at Church View for two years now and I love it, I love the residents and the people I work with too.

“I really wasn’t expecting to win - you expect to see people who work in hospitals to win - but I have won and I am so happy.”
