Welcoming start to the summer as residents of Ixworth Court take a trip to the seaside

Company news

Residents of Ixworth Court have welcomed in the summer months with their annual visit to the Felixstowe seaside. Residents and the Care UK team from Ixworth Court enjoyed trips along the promenade, watching the container ships coming into port and taking in the fresh sea air. The day was topped off with fish and chips on the sea front and a ‘99 with a flake.’

10 residents from the care home, based on Thetford Road in Ixworth, went to Felixstowe for the day along with six members of the care home team. There was a real excitement and buzz amongst the residents on the morning of the trip, some of the ladies even had their hair done especially.

Joanna Last, manager at Ixworth Court said: “We really enjoyed taking the residents to Felixstowe to welcome in the summer and we rented a lovely beach hut to help make the most of the day. With the bright sunshine and the palm trees lining the promenade gardens some residents even felt as though they were somewhere really exotic.”

Ixworth Court has recently received very positive feedback after an inspection from the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

On 1st December 2012 Care UK took over responsibility for Suffolk County Council’s existing 16 residential care homes and eight wellbeing centres, welcoming over 500 residents, including those at Ixworth Court in Ixworth. At the same time over 900 former Suffolk County Council employees transferred on their existing terms to be part of the Care UK team.
