Friday June 21 saw the launch of National Care Home Open Day and locally Care UK homes grabbed the chance to celebrate the very best in residential care.
At Tor-Na-Dee, in North Deeside Road, Milltimber, visitors joined a fete with a variety of stalls, including displays of the residents’ work – crafts, cards, bird feeders and herb markers were all on show.
One of the residents’ relatives, Jim Williams, provided Scottish folk music throughout the afternoon, with accordions, violins and drums giving us a fantastic backdrop to an afternoon of fun.
At Mowat Court care home in Kirkton Road, Stonehaven, visitors enjoyed afternoon tea and had a chance to leave with their car looking spick-and-span thanks to the car wash stall. Visitors also had a chance to meet local politician Nigel John MSP who joined in the afternoon event.
As well as showing visitors around our homes we also gave away copies of the brand new book As Easy As ABC: Care UK’s Top 100 Hints and Tips for Activity Based Care.
If you would like to learn more about ABC and how it can improve older people’s independence and wellbeing you can download it from www.careuk.com.
