Our open day goes with a swing

Home news

Friday 21st June saw the first ever National Care Home Open Day and, at St Vincent’s and Ellesmere House, we joined in with a fun afternoon of entertainment and activities.

As well as the chance to bag a bargain at our popular jumble sale, visitors were able to try food from a wonderful barbecue prepared by the kitchen team.

Manager Joanne Cassidy said: “St Vincent’s House has strong links with the local community and it was lovely to see so many come in and join us for the afternoon.

“National Care Home Open Day is a celebration of all that is best in residential care and it was wonderful to be able to show so many new friends what it is that we do at St Vincent’s.”

And the barbecue and garden party at Ellesmere House, in Chelsea, also went down well – manager Lynne Damaliti said: “We were delighted to welcome visitors and to show them some of the wide range of activities we offer.”

As well as showing visitors around our homes we also gave away copies of the brand new book As Easy As ABC: Care UK’s Top 100 Hints and Tips for Activity Based Care. If you would like to learn more about ABC and how it can improve older people’s independence and wellbeing you can download it from www.careuk.com.
