Summer fun for all at Suffolk care homes

Company news

On Friday June 21, Care UK’s homes and day centres joined hundreds of others around the country opening their doors for the first National Care Home Open Day, and in Suffolk we took the opportunity to join in the celebrations.

At Wamil Court, Mildenhall, high tea was on offer for visitors, along with a raffle and bottle tombola. Manager Marcia Hyland said: “We had a really enjoyable day – it is always good to show people what we do.”

Summer was the theme at Ixworth Court where manager Joanna Last said: “Our residents have been growing giant sunflowers, which were on show and we enjoyed a musical afternoon with scones and ice creams. We also raffled off a beautiful cake in the shape of a straw boater.”

At Place Court care home and wellbeing centre, Haverhill, there was a garden party with entertainment for all. Place Court manager Becky Abbink said: “We are always pleased to show people what we do and what we can offer residents, because we work hard to make sure that they play as active a role here as they wish.”

As well as showing visitors around we also gave away copies of the brand new book As Easy As ABC: Care UK’s Top 100 Hints and Tips for Activity Based Care. If you would like to learn more about ABC and how it can improve older people’s independence and wellbeing you can download it from www.careuk.com
