Our purrfect new residents

Home news

By popular demand, we have two new residents at Grangewood – Shadow and Angel, who have joined us from a local cat re-homing centre.

Our Manager Sam Rogan said: “We used to have a dog who visited the home once a week and he was very popular with the residents. The team spent time talking to everyone asking them about what pets they had had in the past and what pets they would like to see in the home and cats were the most popular choice.

“Our residents were keen that we use a shelter or re-homing scheme as, being pet-lovers, they were very keen to help animals who needed love and a home.”

The animals move freely around and they visit many residents throughout the day, but they appear to have struck up a particular friendship with Edna.

Sam said: “It is lovely to see. Edna comes out of her room every morning and the first thing she does is to find the cats, makes sure they are happy and safe and then checks they have their food.

“The cats are as devoted. They walk around the unit, but if they see Edna going back to her room, they trot after her and curl up on her knee, it is really touching.”
