Grangewood is a purpose-built care home in the village of Shiney Row in Houghton-le-Spring, Tyne & Wear. Our bright and welcoming care home provides quality residential care for older people, including those living with dementia.
All of the bedrooms at Grangewood have en-suite facilities and are stylishly furnished. Each has a 24-hour nurse call system and telephone, internet and television connections. Your loved one is welcome to bring their own treasured possessions and items of furniture to help them to feel more at home.
Our home has a strong community atmosphere. Most residents have lived locally all their lives - as have many of our colleagues. Often, when a new resident moves in, they're instantly among old friends and familiar faces.
We pride ourselves on the transparency of our care quality and fee information - ensuring you can trust us to care from that very first step.
From the moment you receive a diagnosis to learning to live well with dementia, we’re here to support you every step of the way. That’s why we’ve produced ‘One step at a time’, a video guide to navigating dementia, introduced by broadcaster and Alzheimer's Society ambassador, Angela Rippon.
We support your loved one to maintain their independence by taking part in group and one-to-one activities, outings and entertainment in the home. They’re also welcome to do small tasks around Grangewood if it brings them a sense of purpose. Every day can be exactly what they’d like it to be.
Grangewood provides a range of care services. Every resident receives care that’s entirely personalised to their needs, and all care plans are regularly reviewed.Read more
Every day our colleagues live our values of passionate, caring and teamwork to empower residents to enjoy fulfilling lives.
The dedicated and experienced team at Grangewood will provide your loved one with care that is completely tailored to their individual needs and wishes.
One of my favourite parts of the day is chatting to residents and listening to their life stories. There’s so much we can learn from the older generation.Joleen RaynerHome Manager
