Street art takes over our corridors

Home news

We have three new beautifully decorated walls and some very happy memories thanks to some young people who have created a stunning scene and a good impression.

Our walls were due for a bit of an update and residents told us they wanted something a bit different so we got in touch with the art project at the Prudhoe Youth Centre and they said they would be delighted to help.

The residents said they would like something nature based and so the group thought about it and designed some stunning orchids and butterflies that stretch across the walls.

Activities Coordinator Stephanie Campbell said: “The pictures are a cross between street art and cartoons and they are stunning. The residents came out to watch the work being done and were captivated.

“At first they weren’t sure, as it was hard to see any discernible shapes, but as it came together they were very impressed and they were certainly delighted by the finished results.”

The residents were also impressed by the attitude of the young artists. Stephanie said: “They were a smashing group who really bonded with the residents. The only questionable behaviour came from me as I elbowed my way to the front to make sure I had a go! I did, and I can tell you it was a great deal of fun.”

Thank you to everyone from the Prudhoe Youth Centre who took part. The walls are beautiful and you made our day.
