Hadrian House celebrates Halloween in style

On Thursday 31st October we celebrated Halloween in style, by hosting our very own themed event ‘Hadrian’s Halloweens Horrors’. This was a fun filled event, which saw residents, relatives and staff all join in and take part. Staff dressed up in Halloween costumes and decorated the home, to giving a spooky feel to the home.

The fun all started at 10.30am, with Blaydon Exotics visiting the home, bringing with them a whole host of creepy crawlies. Animals such as snakes and spiders were on show, which the staff and residents could handle if they wished, whilst others watched from a distance. The group then educated everyone about the animals on show.

Rosalyn Walker, care home manager, reflected on the creepy crawlies and said:

“This was a fun event enjoyed by the residents, relatives and staff. All the residents appreciated the staff getting dressed up and thought it was very funny to see them handle the creepy crawlies”.

After the animals left, the home hosted a number of activities including a raffle, tombola stall and spooky nail painting. The money raised was donated to MacMillan cancer support. In the afternoon residents and family members relaxed by watching a spooky film, which was followed by a spooky buffet tea, including cakes that were decorated for the occasion.
