Aberdeen care home and Father Christmas invite you all to their fair

Home news

Father Christmas will be on hand to welcome visitors to Care UK’s Mowat Court care home, Stonehaven, on Saturday December 14th as the doors open for the home’s annual Christmas fair, which is open to all between 1-3pm.

As well as Santa and his little helpers, there will be lots of stalls, mince pies, mulled wine, entertainment and a raffle at the Kirkton Road home.

Deputy manager Pat Hutchison said: “Our residents love open days and they particularly like seeing the children with Santa. It brings back lots of memories, gets them chatting about Christmases past and reminds them of how they used to organise Christmas in their own home. They have a great time decorating the home and the tree, ready for our visitors.”

The residents have also been busy making items for sale on the craft stall including Christmas stockings, wreaths and table decorations. Baking is also popular at the home and residents will be joining in making mince pies for the fair and for the festive season at the home.

The fair starts more than a week of Christmas celebrations and activities.  Carol said: "Christmas is a very busy time of year for us, with lots of festive activities, from visiting musicians to making Christmas decorations, and school children will be helping residents to get into the Christmas spirit with carol singing. A highlight for some residents will be a limousine ride through Old Aberdeen to see the Christmas lights.

“Then there’s our Hogmanay party: our Hogmanays are always a special occasion. People have their own ways of celebrating and family traditions. As this is our residents’ home, we do everything we can to ensure that they, their friends and their family can celebrate and have fun in their own special way.”
