Hawthorn Drive are runners up in the “Great Christmas Cake Off” competition

Company news

Hawthorn Drive care home has been announced as the runners up of Care UK’s Great Christmas Cake Off competition. The Christmas competition, which stretched across all Care UK homes and day centres, asked homes to bake a cake. The competition created some festive fun and also encouraged everyone to get involved in the baking of the cake, form residents to activities coordinators and chefs. Homes that participated in the competition submitted a storybook, highlighting what the home went through to bake a cake. There were three categories that the entries were judged on:

  • Creativity & Festiveness
  • Resident involvement
  • Storybook presentation

Hawthorn Drive proved to score very well in each category and were worthy runners up in the competition. Their cake was unique; with the residents and staff baking and decorating three dimensional snowmen. As well as being involved in the baking and decoration of the snowmen the residents even came up with a story. The residents named the snowmen Horris and Dorris: the snow couple - who live at Hawthorn Drive.

Hawthorn Drive won a cash prize for winning the competition, which will be used for the resident’s fund.
