New £6m care home to create over 100 jobs

Company news

Care UK is putting the finishing touches to a new £6 million state-of-the-art care home which is expected to create around 120 new jobs. The home in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire will offer places for up to 90 people and will increase the provision of residential, nursing and specialist dementia care in the city. It is due to open in February 2014.

The new home, called Sandfields, has been thoughtfully designed with smaller dining rooms and lounges to help create a homely atmosphere in its six suites. Other facilities include a café, cinema, hairdressers, four landscaped gardens and different spaces for residents to enjoy activities and hobbies. Each of the 90 en-suite bedrooms feature a wide range of facilities to meet people’s care needs and the ground floor bedrooms open onto their own patios, with room for pot plants and garden furniture.

Elizabeth Miles, customer relations manager at Care UK, said: “Care UK has built its reputation tailoring care plans to fit the requirements of each individual resident, working closely with families and friends to make sure the care environment feels like a ‘home from home’. Sandfields has been designed to enhance residents’ lives in a host of ways, with its layout and facilities well thought-through to ensure residents’ needs are well served – from physical needs to likes and dislikes, hobbies and interests.”

People can visit the Sandfields marketing suite to take a closer look at the facilities on offer, meet the team and find out more about Care UK’s commitment to person-centred care which enables residents to live fulfilling and enjoyable lives. The local community is also being invited to a Dementia Friends event at Sandfields on Monday 27th January, where advice will be given about dementia and what it is like to live with the condition.

Elizabeth added: “Sandfields represents a major investment for Care UK, and we are looking forward to welcoming those who want to see the high quality residential and nursing environment for themselves. We know from experience many families value the opportunity to secure a bed at a brand new purpose-built care home – where their loved ones can be the first to make the most of the facilities. Our doors are now open for those who want to meet the experienced team which is already on board, and find out more about the range of services we will be providing at Sandfields.”

The Sandfields marketing suite is open Monday-Friday 10am-4pm and Saturday and Sunday 10am-2pm.
