Construction milestone celebrated at Essex care home

Company news

Care UK has moved a step closer to delivering a new multi-million pound care home in Essex with a topping out ceremony held on site to mark the latest construction milestone.

Representatives from Essex County Council and construction partner Castleoak joined forces with Care UK to place the final tile on the roof of the 60-bed care home situated on High Lane in Stansted Mountfitchet.

Part way through the 64-week construction programme, the project is on track to create up to 100 jobs when the care home is fully commissioned and welcomes its first residents in September.

Justin Daley, construction project manager at Care UK, said: “The new care home, which is currently under construction, represents a major investment for Care UK and when complete it will boost the provision of quality residential care for older people living in the area.

“We take great pride in the quality, layout and design of each individual care home because these have proven to be very important factors which can enhance people’s everyday experiences.

“As work continues apace in Stansted, our vision for the home is well on the way to being realised. We wanted to take the opportunity to acknowledge progress and celebrate the topping out with Castleoak and Essex County Council.”

Steve Bucknell, managing director at Castleoak – which is a leading developer and construction partner to the care sector – said: “We look forward to delivering our latest care home development to Care UK.”

Stuart Watkins, contract manager at Essex County Council, said: “With an ageing UK population it is incredibly important that the care requirements of older people remain high on the agenda. Essex County Council supports the development of new care homes which will help to meet the needs of the community – today and for future generations.

“The plans for the Care UK home here in Stansted Mountfitchet show that this facility will not only be well equipped to provide a high standard of care, it will also generate much-needed employment opportunities in the county. I look forward to seeing the completed care home in September and to meeting the team who will be at the helm.”

Care UK’s Stansted Mountfitchet care home will provide a range of care services for older people, including residential, nursing and specialist dementia care, as well as short term respite, palliative, and sensitive end-of-life care.

Designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, the state-of-the-art care environment will provide a welcoming ‘home from home’. Each individual bedroom will have an en-suite wet room, flat-screen television, adjustable profile bed, and 24-hour nurse call system.
