Open Day Success at Beech Hurst Care Home

Home news

Mayor Sally Ellis joined the team at Beech Hurst care home on Butlers Green Road  when they welcomed the people of Haywards Heath through its doors as the care home took part in National Care Home Open Day last week.

Run by leading health and social care provider Care UK, Beech Hurst pledged its support for the annual initiative, which aims to dispel myths around the care environment, changing perceptions of care homes and connecting residents with their communities.

Attendee’s enjoyed activities at the ‘Around the World’ themed day and enjoyed a BBQ and garden party. Beech Hurst’s team were also on hand to answer any questions and conducted tours of the care home.

Nikki Wheatley-Crowe, home manager at Beech Hurst, said:  “National Care Home Open Day provided a fantastic opportunity for the team at Beech Hurst to invite local people to take a closer look at the care home.  It was a pleasure to meet and greet all of our visitors and everyone enjoyed the activities.

“We hope that by opening our doors we have challenged any preconceived ideas about care homes and we have demonstrated how the modern care environment is warm and inviting, and plays an important role in the community.”

Those who visited Beech Hurst picked up complimentary copies of Care UK’s first-person guides - ‘As Easy As ABC’ guide and the recently launched ‘Listen, Talk, Connect’. The guides provide practical information and tips to those caring for loved ones living with dementia, as well as advice on how to communicate with a loved one in a care home and make the most of their visits.

Beech Hurst has been designed to deliver the very best standards of care and to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives.  The home offers a range of services including residential and nursing care, specialist dementia care and respite care.
