Pride of Somerset Awards 2014

Company news

Since July 2005, Shepton Mallet NHS Treatment Centre has been at the heart of the local community, caring for more than 70,000 patients.

That is what makes the centre the ideal partner for the Pride of Somerset Awards 2014.

Mid Somerset News & Media is running the Pride of Somerset Awards 2014, in association with Shepton Mallet NHS Treatment Centre, to celebrate those who make a difference in our area. The awards aim to recognise the unsung heroes whose kindness, generosity, dedication and courage have touched the lives of others and helped bind the Somerset community together.

It is a cause close to the heart of those at the Shepton Mallet NHS Treatment Centre, said Hospital Director Chester Barnes.

"Over the last nine years, the treatment centre has established itself as part of the local community, employing local staff and treating patients from Shepton Mallet and across Somerset," he said.

"The hard work of our staff in delivering high-quality care to patients has been key to the treatment centre's success.

"For this reason, we have been delighted to sponsor the Awards since their inception in 2011, recognising the importance of recognising individuals who selflessly dedicate themselves to helping others within their local community.

"The Pride of Somerset Awards are a fantastic way of celebrating these inspirational people and we are delighted to sponsor the awards."

This year there are 11 categories: Volunteer Hero, Community Projects, Charity Champion, Brave Heart Hero, Outstanding Young Person, Education Hero, Outstanding Contribution to the arts and crafts, Extra Mile award, The Phil Welch Ambassador of the year Award. Child of Courage Award and the Sporting Hero.
