Ashton-under-Lyne carers to raise money for charities and celebrate a much-loved colleague

Company news

The team at Care UK’s Ashton-under-Lyne office are opening their doors to the public for two fundraising events for cancer charities in September.

On Saturday 20 September, between 12 noon and 4pm, a family fun day will raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.  As well as a lucky dip, cake and jewellery stalls, there will also be a tombola, a bouncy castle, face painting and competitions such as guessing the number of sweets in a jar and balloons in a car.

Service manager Christine Clarke said: “We provide care to around 350 people in the Tameside area through our care at home services for older people, as well as our residential support service for adults with learning disabilities, and many of them have created cakes and craft for our stalls.”

On Friday 26 September the team will also be joining in the national Macmillan coffee morning between 10am and 12 noon at the office in Turner Lane. Christine said: “We have had many pledges of cake and cookie donations. We recently lost Lynne Hinchliffe, a really wonderful and dedicated carer, to cancer. She was much-loved and everyone at the branch has pledged to support cancer charities in her memory.

“We have already raised more than £400 for a pancreatic cancer charity through our branch tuck shop and we hope the public will come along to our September events and help us raise more for these excellent charities, as well as remembering a very special lady.”
