Lowestoft care home ‘Wear it Red’ and raise over £200

Company news

Colleagues at Britten Court care home and day club, on Love Road in Lowestoft, have been busy baking for British Heart Foundation’s ‘Wear it Red’ day on 6 February 2015.

The Care UK teams raised over £200 by wearing red for the day, holding a quiz night for residents and relatives and by baking and selling cakes in the care home’s coffee shop. Head housekeeper, Sarah Emery, arranged the fundraising event and was delighted at the response.

She said: “We initially set a fundraising target of £100 but I am thrilled that we managed to double it! The residents, their relatives and the Care UK teams here at Britten Court all had such a great time raising money for a worthy cause. We particularly enjoyed the homemade cakes, so much so that we are planning on holding an Easter cake sale for Dementia UK.”

Residents from Britten Court, who moved in from December 2014, and members from the adjacent Britten Club, were all involved in the ‘Wear it Red’ day. For those that couldn’t reach the coffee shop in the care home, baskets of cakes were taken round so that everybody was involved.
