People in Cringleford raise a cuppa for Norwich nurses

Home news

People in Cringleford helped to raise funds for the Cavell Nurses’ Trust when the team at Cavell Court hosted a fundraising event to coincide with International Nurses Day.

Ahead of the first residents being welcomed to Cavell Court later this summer, local people dropped in to the marketing suite for a coffee morning and pamper day.  Beauty students from Norwich City College provided treatments in exchange for a donation to the Trust; and local nurses were treated to relaxing complimentary massages and manicures.

Home manager, Anita O’Neill, said: “International Nurses’ Day gave us a brilliant opportunity to bring the local community together to honour nurses, midwives and healthcare assistants in Cringleford and reflect on the vital work they do.

“We want to say a big thank you to everyone that came along to the coffee morning and helped us raise over a hundred pounds. It was great to join forces with the local community and give something back to a charity which focuses on supporting those that dedicate their lives to providing care.”

Steve Moralee, head of fundraising for Cavell Nurses’ Trust, said: “Cavell Nurses’ Trust provides vital support for nurses during very difficult times and it is the support of community events like this that allows us to continue our essential work. We are very grateful to everyone who gave their time to create this event and I would like to thank everyone who attended and generously made a donation to our charity.”

Commenting after the event, Leeza Manning, beauty therapy lecturer at Norwich City College, said: “It was great to be able to support the team at Cavell Court with such a worthwhile event. We always encourage our students to play an active role in the local community and they all worked really hard helping to raise funds for the Trust.”
