The sponsored bungee jump has raised over £400 for Dementia UK, with some of the money also going towards buying a garden swing for the dementia residents at the care home.
Lynne said: “Not only did I want to support such an amazing charity, who do so much for people living with dementia, I also wanted to give our residents something to enjoy too.”
“Seeing our residents enjoy the garden outside is a real pleasure, the new garden swing will be fantastic for them. The residents and staff here thought I was completely mad, but it really helped calm my nerves knowing that they are all behind me and they really appreciate what I am doing for such a great charity” commented Lynne.
Lynne started working at the care home in Hendon as a carer before moving onto becoming the home’s activities coordinator. Lynne’s passion for the home’s activities stemmed from her father’s diagnosis of dementia, where she really began to understand the importance of activity based care.
“Lynne’s enthusiasm is infectious! She is so dedicated to her role and the happiness of the residents - she is a real delight to have around” said Lorraine Mchugh, home manager at Elmstead House.
Lorraine continued: “She is a fantastic activity coordinator, a real asset to our team.”
