The annual Care UK awards took place at Heythrop Park Resort in Oxfordshire on Thursday 19th November. The awards are a celebration of the great work, compassion and dedication of the staff at Care UK. With 114 homes across the UK, we support more than 7,000 people to continue living active and independent lives in warm, safe and comfortable surroundings. This year, more than 700 nominations were received across 17 categories in the Care UK awards.
Andrew Knight, Residential Care Services managing director, said: “A huge congratulations to all our winners and a big well done to everybody that had been nominated, we really appreciate the great job you’re doing.”
When Julie Okhae was appointed as home manager of Hollins Park, the home was going through a challenging time. Julie’s hard work, commitment and excellent leadership skills have enabled her to build a strong team in the home.
At a visit by the Care Quality Commission, inspectors found that the home in Macclesfield meets the Government’s five standards of quality and safety which are:
• Treating people with respect and involving them in their care
• Providing care, treatment and support that meets people's needs
• Caring for people safely and protecting them from harm
• Staffing
• Quality and suitability of management
The recent CQC inspection also noted that during the inspection they spoke with six people who lived in the home. They all spoke highly of the staff who supported them and the care that they received. One person said "Yesterday was lovely. We all sat in the garden chatting. It was sunny and we had ice lollies." Another person said "The staff are kind and helpful. We are lucky here."
Hollins Park Home Manager Julie Okhae said “I am delighted that Care UK has recognised the hard work, dedication and commitment of the staff at Hollins Park. Our home has gone through a period of change over the past 12 months and the care team have pulled together to ensure that the residents receive the care and support they need to lead fulfilling lives.”
