At Hollins Park you can expect a warm welcome and ‘outstanding’-rated care from our award-winning team.
We are here to support you and your loved one through your journey into care and are able to offer a limited number of appointments for in-person show rounds of our care home. Call to speak to one of our friendly team who can take you through a short health screening questionnaire and book you in for a tour. If you’re considering care for yourself or a loved one, we’re here for you.
Our skilled and caring team provides personalised nursing care for up to 48 older people who are living with dementia and other complex care needs. Our colleagues receive the latest in dementia care training, which gives us a deep insight into what it may be like to live with this condition. We take pride in being innovative and empathic with residents, helping them to find new ways to communicate and express themselves or tap into memories.
An outstanding result
It’s this approach that led us to achieve an ‘outstanding’ overall rating at our Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection in July 2019, with ‘outstanding’ ratings for effectiveness, level of care, responsiveness and leadership. Inspectors highlighted our team’s passion and pride in delivering great care, and how colleagues are supported by an exceptional management team.
An award-winning care home
We’re also thrilled to have reached the finals of the 2019 Caring UK Awards in both the Excellence and Innovation in Dementia Care category, as well as the North Care Home of the Year category. In late 2018 we won Home of the Year in the Care UK RCS Stars Awards too. Judges praised our positive approach to risk-taking to enable residents to live full and fulfilling lives, including supporting an ex-lorry driver to visit Truck Fest.
A home with a heart
There’s a strong family atmosphere at Hollins Park. We work in partnership with residents and their relatives to find out everything we can about each person, so that we can tailor their care to their precise needs. We always remember that Hollins Park is your loved one’s home, so we put them at the heart of everything we do, from helping us to recruit new colleagues to developing new menus with our chef.
We recently took delivery of a Tovertafel, or ‘magic table’ which is designed for people with dementia. Its calming effects have led to positive changes for a number of residents, including reducing medication and anxiety.
Relax in comfort
Bedrooms at Hollins Park are spacious and comfortable; some overlook our gardens or the nearby cricket ground. There are many thoughtful design features around the home that support residents with dementia, plus a variety of facilities, from comfortable lounges to a quiet room, a hair salon, plus a pub and a café.
