Throughout the day, members of the Mountfitchet House team took it in turns to ride a stationary bike. Over a total of eight hours they pedaled 68 kilometers and raised £194 for the charity, cheered on by residents who were sitting in the care home’s café.
Home manager, Allison Squires, said: “The Sport Relief fundraiser created a fantastic atmosphere in the home. Everyone enjoyed showing their support for those who took to the bikes, and residents had a lovely impromptu sing-along which sounded amazing as it echoed around the reception area. It was a great day and we were thrilled to raise money for such a good cause.”
Sport Relief is a national charity initiative from the same team as Comic Relief. Of all the money raised, 50 per cent is used to make a difference in the UK and 50 per cent goes towards transforming lives across the world’s poorest communities.
