When complete, the purpose-built care home on the site of the former Roebuck Hotel will provide full time residential, nursing and specialist dementia care for up to 70 older people.
The home will feature state-of-the-art facilities including a cinema, hairdressing salon and the Garden Café, which will lead onto a private courtyard garden area. Safe and wheelchair friendly landscaped gardens will include sensory areas, water features and seating to give residents the opportunity to spend quality time outdoors.
Speaking at the start on site ceremony, Gary Renton, construction project manager for Care UK, said: “We are delighted work has begun on site in Ware. We take a great pride in the build quality, and the layout and design, of each individual care home, as these have proven to be very important factors which can greatly impact the everyday experiences of those living in a care environment. This impressive development will live up to these standards, and will provide a quality home for older people in Ware and the surrounding areas.”
Luke Hollick, commercial director for contractor Lawrence Baker, who is overseeing the development in Ware, said: “The construction of this new care home has got off to a great start and we are currently on schedule for completion in August 2017. This is a key project for Lawrence Baker and we are all proud to play a part in the delivery of a high quality facility for the local community.”
Designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives while also promoting independence, the new care home will incorporate space for hobby and leisure activities. The layout will be configured into a series of individual suites, with each having a dedicated lounge/dining room to facilitate the creation of close knit communities. Each bedroom will benefit from an en-suite wet room, flat-screen television, adjustable profile bed and access to a 24-hour nurse call system.
