Riverside care home invites people in Hyde to celebrate Care Home Open Day

Care UK’s Riverside care home in Hyde is inviting local people to visit the home on Manchester Road on Friday 17th June to join in its celebrations for Care Home Open Day.

From 2pm until 4pm, the team at Riverside will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event. The day is in celebration of Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities. 

There will be a carnival spirit at Riverside on Friday with the event themed around the Rio 2016 Olympics.  Residents and visitors will be able to get involved in a host of Olympic-inspired games and activities including a fun egg and spoon race, shot put and archery.  There will also be a barbecue and refreshments; and all who drop-by can tour the home, and meet residents and the Care UK team. 

Michaela O’Brien, home manager at Riverside, said: “Care Home Open Day is about connecting people and enriching the lives of residents through building lasting relationships with the local community across the generations.  

“Opening our doors is also a great opportunity to show what life is really like in a modern care home; and we hope to change any preconceptions people might have while also showing everything Riverside has to offer. 

“We have got a fun day of activities planned and are really looking forward to getting behind Care Home Open Day on Friday 17th June and welcoming the people of Hyde to be a part of it.” 

Visitors to the Care Home Open Day event at Riverside will also be able to pick up their copy of Care UK’s Eating as we Age.  The latest in a series of free guides for family carers, Eating as we age is packed with hints and tips for keeping healthy and hydrated in older age.  The guide can also be downloaded free at www.careuk.com/eat
