From 12.30pm until 4pm, the team at Tall Trees will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event. The day is in celebration of Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.
There will be a carnival spirit at Tall Trees on Friday with the event themed around the Rio 2016 Olympics. Residents and visitors will be able to enjoy Brazilian-influenced food and cocktails. Live entertainment will be provided by Versatility, and there will also be fun Olympic-inspired games for everyone to take part in throughout the afternoon. All who drop-by can tour the home, and meet residents and the Care UK team.
Alice Banda, home manager at Tall Trees, said: “Care Home Open Day is about connecting people and enriching the lives of residents through building lasting relationships with the local community across the generations.
“Opening our doors is also a great opportunity to show what life is really like in a modern care home; and we hope to change any preconceptions people might have while also showing everything Tall Trees has to offer.
“We have got a fun day of activities planned and are really looking forward to getting behind Care Home Open Day on Friday 17th June and welcoming the people of Colchester to be a part of it.”
Visitors to the Care Home Open Day event at Tall Trees will also be able to pick up their copy of Care UK’s Eating as we Age. The latest in a series of free guides for family carers, Eating as we age is packed with hints and tips for keeping healthy and hydrated in older age. The guide can also be downloaded free at www.careuk.com/eat
