Field Lodge care home invites people in St Ives to celebrate Care Home Open Day

Care UK’s Field Lodge care home in St Ives, is inviting local people to visit the home on London Road on Friday 17th June to join in its celebrations for Care Home Open Day.

From 11am until 4.30pm, the team at Field Lodge will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event. The day is in celebration of Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities. 

Residents and visitors will be able to enjoy a host of activities including a fun group exercise session and a tea party.  There will also be a sing-a-long of residents’ favourite songs which everyone can join in with.

Lisa Houghton, home manager at Field Lodge, said: “Care Home Open Day is about connecting people and enriching the lives of residents through building lasting relationships with the local community across the generations.  

“Opening our doors is also a great opportunity to show what life is really like in a modern care home; and we hope to change any preconceptions people might have while also showing everything Field Lodge has to offer. 

“We have got a fun day of activities planned and are really looking forward to getting behind Care Home Open Day on Friday 17th June and welcoming the people of St Ives to be a part of it.” 

Visitors to the Care Home Open Day event at Field Lodge will also be able to pick up their copy of Care UK’s Eating as we Age.  The latest in a series of free guides for family carers, Eating as we age is packed with hints and tips for keeping healthy and hydrated in older age.  The guide can also be downloaded free at www.careuk.com/eat
