St Ives care home praised by national inspectors

A national regulator has given a care home in St Ives its seal of approval following an unannounced inspection.

Care UK’s Field Lodge, on London Road, was awarded a ‘good’ rating across all five key areas – safety, effectiveness, caring, responsiveness and leadership – by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) following its two-week evaluation.

Inspectors highlighted the positive relationships between team members and residents at the home, noting the team were kind, respectful and genuinely caring.

One resident said: “The staff are brilliant. They will always help you with whatever you want. They run about after me, they put my hearing aids in every day. I feel well looked after.”

The report also praised the home’s personalised care planning, which captures each person’s strengths, abilities, aspirations, cultural backgrounds and protected characteristics.

A robust activities programme was also noted, with documentation that evidenced trips for people arranged based on previous jobs, current needs and interests. Residents are encouraged to stay active and remain as independent as possible, particularly during mealtimes, when they maintain choice and control over the food served and are assisted only when needed.
