Francis Court care home invites people in Copthorne to celebrate Care Home Open Day

Home news

Care UK’s Francis Court care home in Copthorne is inviting local people to visit the home on Borers Arms Road on Saturday 18th June to join in its celebrations for Care Home Open Day.

From 11.30am until 4pm, the team at Francis Court will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event. The day is in celebration of Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.

There will be a carnival spirit at Francis Court on Saturday with the event themed around the Rio 2016 Olympics.  Residents and visitors will be able to enjoy entertainment from Fred Delias and his dogs, as well as a performance from Jo York. There will also be refreshments, including a barbecue in the care home’s garden.

Mary Ann Ballesteros, home manager at Francis Court, said: “Care Home Open Day is about connecting people and enriching the lives of residents through building lasting relationships with the local community across the generations.

“Opening our doors is also a great opportunity to show what life is really like in a modern care home; and we hope to change any preconceptions people might have while also showing everything Francis Court has to offer.

“We have got a fun day of activities planned and are really looking forward to getting behind Care Home Open Day on Saturday 18th June and welcoming the people of Copthorne to be a part of it.”

Visitors to the Care Home Open Day event at Francis Court will also be able to pick up their copy of Care UK’s Eating as we Age.  The latest in a series of free guides for family carers, Eating as we age is packed with hints and tips for keeping healthy and hydrated in older age.  The guide can also be downloaded free at www.careuk.com/eat
