Care UK and Castleoak start work on new £7m Horndean care home

Care UK and specialist construction partner Castleoak have celebrated the start of work on a new £7 million care home in Horndean, Hampshire.

The home will feature 72 en-suite bedrooms and will boost the provision of high quality residential care, specialist dementia care, nursing and short-term respite care in the village.

The purpose-built three-storey home, which is expected to welcome its first residents in autumn 2017, will feature facilities including a cinema, hairdressing salon, activity room and cafe. There'll also be wheelchair-friendly landscaped gardens which will provide a safe outdoor environment for relaxation and recreation.

Speaking at the start on site ceremony, Justin Daley, construction project manager at Care UK, said: “We're delighted work has begun on our new care home in Horndean; not least because this impressive development reflects our commitment to improving the provision of residential care in the village. We take great pride in the build quality, layout and design of each individual home, as these factors can greatly impact the everyday experiences of those living in a care environment. This new care home will live up to these standards, and will provide a quality home for older people from Horndean and beyond.”

We were delighted to be selected as the design and construction partner for this new state-of-the-art care home and look forward to working together to create quality living space in the village of Horndean.”

Designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence, the new care home will incorporate space for hobby and leisure activities. The layout of the building will be configured into a series of individual suites, each having a dedicated lounge and dining space to help facilitate the creation of close knit communities.

Each bedroom at the home will have an en-suite wet room, flat-screen television, adjustable profile bed and a 24-hour nurse call system.
