Care UK raises £2,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support

Company news

Care homes across the country have whisked up nearly £2,000 after taking part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, raising much-needed funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Our homes raised an incredible amount for the charity, withWinchcombe Place raising over £416, Silversprings and Colne View - both based in Essex - raising over £650, and Heather View in Crowborough raising £269.

A number of Care UK homes took part in the event as part of a nationwide initiative that has so far contributed to the £7 million raised for the cancer charity.

The teams planned their own unique fundraising events, in which visitors enjoyed tea and cake with residents, all for a small donation to Macmillan.

Amberley Lodge hosted a charity garden party for the Purley community, and Heather View invited visitors for afternoon tea. Winchcombe Place was joined by the Mayor of Newbury, and Mountfitchet House, Foxbridge House and Field Lodge had ‘bake off’ themed events, in which residents and visitors competed to win ‘star baker’ for their tasty homemade creations.

Allison Squires, home manager at Mountfitchet House, said: “It was great to join forces with the local community and take part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning. It was a really enjoyable afternoon and we’re thrilled with the total amount we raised, which will all go towards the vital services and support provided by Macmillan.”

Additional homes that took part included: Perry Manor, Abney Court, Elizabeth Lodge, Foxbridge House, The Potteries, Mill View, Mountfitchet House, Bowes House, Darlington Court, Sherwood Grange, Cavell Court, Field Lodge and Sandfields.
