Free advice event returns to Bury St Edmunds care home

Glastonbury Court care home in Bury St Edmunds is inviting the local community to its free event for families caring for those with dementia.

On Thursday 8th December from 10.00am – 12.30pm, the Care UK team will open the doors to the care home for its Understanding Dementia event.

Dementia specialist, Dr Nori Graham, will be on hand to help people understand what it might be like to live with dementia. There will also be support and practical advice on what dementia is and how memories are lost, as well as useful tips on how to overcome communication barriers. The aim is to help people discover positive approaches to caring for loved ones living with dementia.

After the event there will be a Q&A session, and those who attend will also have the chance to meet the team at Glastonbury Court, as well as take a closer look at the care home.

Sharlene Van Tonder, home manager at Glastonbury Court, said: “Here at Glastonbury Court we strongly believe professional knowledge, insight and shared experiences can make a real difference to the everyday lives of those caring for loved ones loving with dementia.

“Previous events have proven to be incredibly popular, so we are looking forward to welcoming local people to Glastonbury Court for what promises to be another interesting and inspiring afternoon of information and guidance.”
