Perry Manor step into the past with gingerbread masterpiece

Home news

Residents from Perry Manor have taken a trip down memory lane to create a gingerbread house inspired by the streets of Worcester, they made a row of houses inspired by the terraced homes that used to line the Worcester streets.

The gingerbread terrace was grouped around one large house which formed the centrepiece of the resident’s design.

They also moulded sugar paste, creating sheep and colourful flowers, to represent two resident’s previous occupations as a shepherdess and florist. Penguins and angels also made the cut, adding to the festive feel of the gingerbread house.

The residents crafted their Worcester inspired gingerbread house and terrace as part of the Unilever Gingerbread challenge. Perry Manor head chef, Peter James McGregor, helped residents choose a unique theme to shape the culinary creation.

Charles Weller, customer relations manager at Perry Manor, said: “Everyone that took part really enjoyed making and designing the gingerbread house. It was a great opportunity to get creative in the kitchen and create something personal.

“We always encourage residents to continue hobbies and take part in creative activities, and this was a wonderful way for everyone to come together and get baking.”

Perry Manor is a state-of-the-art care home which provides full-time residential, nursing and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care. Designed to enable its residents to live enjoyable and fulfilling lives, the care home has its very own cinema, coffee shop and hair salon, and there is plenty of space both indoors and out for relaxation and recreation.
