Davers Court celebrates Vera Lynn’s 100th birthday with nationwide sing-along

Davers Court is inviting the local community to join a sing-along to celebrate Vera Lynn’s 100^th birthday.

Davers Court is inviting people in Bury St Edmunds to join them on Monday 20 March, from 3pm-4pm, to strike a chord for the forces sweetheart’s milestone birthday.

Guests will be able to enjoy a special Vera Lynn tea party, and live entertainment from local musicians to keep everyone entertained.

Residents and the care home team will be ensuring visitors are pitch perfect for the rendition of the popular wartime song “We’ll Meet Again”, with lyrics available and tasty treats on hand for all.

Wendy Harvey, home manager at Davers Court, commented: “We are all looking forward to taking a walk down memory lane and having a good sing-along to celebrate Vera Lynn’s milestone birthday. Singing can be a powerful reminiscence activity, and Vera Lynn has written a number of iconic songs that many residents are likely to have grown up listening to.

“Even when memories become particularly hard to remember, often music can still be recalled, so a group sing-along can often be very calming for those living with dementia, and can encourage them to talk about memories from their childhood.

“We look forward to welcoming the people of Bury St Edmunds to Davers Court for this special occasion.”
