The Care Quality Commission’s (CQC) report gave Ogilvy Court an overall ‘good’ rating, following an unannounced inspection.
The report highlighted that the team paid great attention to the resident’s personalised needs, and interacted with resident’s in a respectful and friendly way. One resident commented: “They [team] always have a smile on their face”, and another resident added: “They [team] say kind words to me and encourage me”.
Praise was given for the care that each team member showed towards the residents and their families, and it was observed that their relationships demonstrated sensitivity and consideration at all times. Resident’s relatives endorsed the work of the care team commenting: “They [team] are very good” and “The care is very good.”
During the visit, inspectors found that resident’s nutritional needs and culinary preferences were recorded and observed. The chef was aware of resident’s personal dietary requirements, allergies and food preferences, and provided a selection of choices at mealtimes. Resident’s with dysphagia were also presented with pureed meals in an attractive manner.
One resident remarked: "This food is lovely and you can see the amount of effort that has gone to making it nice and presentable. I don't have much of an appetite, but I have to do justice to this lovely food that has been prepared for me, very often the chef visits me to find out about the food I would like.”
Residents bedrooms were personalised with photographs of family members and outside each door was a memory box filled with personal items designed to stimulate the resident’s memory.
When speaking to the team at Ogilvy Court, it was noted that there was plenty of positive engagement between the team and residents. One care assistant explained that: “If I know the residents, I know what makes them happy. All the care assistants here are very tender towards the residents, if you put yourself in their [resident’s] place it helps develop a relationship.”

Everyone here works incredibly hard to support residents with compassionate, person-centred care, and to be rated ‘good’ shows just how committed the team is to making a positive difference to resident’s lives each and every day.
“I’m extremely proud of our team and I would like to say thank you for their hard work and dedication, which I know is also greatly appreciated by residents and their families.”
To assess service standards at Ogilvy Court, the CQC’s inspector spoke with team members, residents and their visiting relatives on the day of the inspection. They also reviewed the records and procedures already in place at the care home.
Ogilvy Court has been designed to deliver the very best standards of care and to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives. The home provides full time residential, nursing and dementia care, as well as short term respite.
