Free advice event returns to The Potteries

Home news

The Potteries is inviting the local community to its free event for people caring for a loved one living with dementia.

On Thursday 14th September from 2pm-4pm, the team at The Potteries will open the doors to the care home on York Road for its Understanding Dementia event.

Dementia specialist, Debra Fox, will be on hand to help people understand what it might be like to live with dementia. There will also be support and practical advice on what dementia is and how memories are lost, as well as useful tips on how to overcome communication barriers. The aim is to help people discover positive approaches to caring for loved ones living with dementia.

After the event there will be a Q&A session, and those who attend will also have the chance to meet the team at The Potteries, as well as take a closer look at the care home.

Zita Turner, home manager at The Potteries, said: “Here at The Potteries we strongly believe professional knowledge, insight and shared experiences can make a real difference to the everyday lives of those caring for loved ones living with dementia.

“We are looking forward to welcoming local people to The Potteries for what promises to be an interesting and inspiring afternoon of information and guidance.”
