Now in its nineteenth year, the National Care Awards is the longest established annual awards and is organised by social care’s leading publication, Caring Times.
Care UK teams at Priors House and Appleby House are celebrating after it was announced Jon Sneath is a finalist in the Activities Coordinator of the Year category, and Julie Price for Housekeeper of the Year. Care UK regional director, Eileen Coyle-Jones, has also been shortlisted for Care Operations Manager of the Year.
Team members at Priors House in Leamington Spa have praised Jon for his hard work in creating a buzz with a wide variety of activities from exercise classes and arts and crafts, to baking and cheese tasting, Jon is always thinking of creative new ways to create meaningful lifestyles for residents.
Mother of seven, Julie Price from Appleby House in Epsom, is a hopeful in the Housekeeper of the Year category. Julie has been described as a ‘remarkable person’ and takes time to get to know the residents and their wishes. One lady living with dementia at the home is no longer able to speak and so has developed a way of talking using numbers. Julie spends time with her and has learnt the ‘code’ which she translates to other members of the team to ensure the resident always has what she needs.
One relative said: “Julie is an amazing person who always goes over and above expectations every day she is at work. The residents, relatives and colleagues have nothing but praise for her.”
Eileen Coyle-Jones is the Care UK regional director for West London and has been shortlisted for Care Operations Manager of the Year.
Her ethos is that nothing is impossible, and residents always have dreams. She believes that if a resident wants to go parachuting at the age of 96, the Care UK team should do their best to make it happen.
One colleague said: “To know Eileen you must work with her. You’ll end up realising you have found a remarkable woman able to be there on many levels, as a good friend, a great professional co-worker and an amazing leader.”
Speaking about her nomination, Eileen said: “I am delighted that so many of our hard working team members have been nominated for such highly contested accolades in one of the biggest awards in the industry – and I’m thrilled to be one of them.”
