Nurse Tracy Norbury, at Hollins Park, was awarded the accolade after judges recognised her skill and dedication to caring.
The National Dementia Care Awards are held annually and recognise the very best in dementia care across the sector. The purpose of the awards is to pay tribute to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding performance within their field of work.
The home provides specialist support for the 41 residents living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. Tracy and members of the team at Hollins Park adopt a person-centred approach, and tailor care plans to resident’s individual needs. The team advocate activity-based care, and have introduced a variety of activities to help residents lead their lives as independently as possible, as well as improving personal wellbeing.
Tracy has worked at the home since she was 16 and after training to become a nurse three years ago she became deputy manager at the home. Not only does she always go the extra mile to care for the residents with challenging needs, but she ensures support is available for relatives at every stage.
Julie Okhae, home manager at Hollins Park, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled that our deputy manager, Tracy, has won Best Nurse Specialist at the National Dementia Care Awards.
“Tracy works hard to focus and motivate the team at Hollins Park. She provides them with a clear vision of life through the eyes of the residents and ensures everyone is treated as an individual. Tracy believes that Hollins Park is “a home for life”, no matter what the resident’s needs.”
