Residents participated in the annual wildlife survey, and recorded the number of birds, as well as other wildlife species, they spotted in their garden.
Residents were joined by police cadets to help identify the different species of birds and local wildlife in the home garden. There was also a special visit from Norfolk Wild Encounters who brought a selection of birds of prey for residents to interact with including a burrowing owl, great grey owl, and European eagle owl.
Samantha Woods, customer relations manager at Cavell Court said: “The birdwatch is a popular activity with our residents every year, so we were delighted to welcome the children and Norfolk Wild Encounters to join us for the big event. All of the residents enjoyed taking part, and learning more about the wildlife in our garden.
“Outdoor activities are important for both physical and mental wellbeing, and have many benefits for older people, particularly for those who are living with dementia. Birdwatching can act as a valuable reminiscence activity, as the distinctive sights and sounds of birds in the garden can help evoke memories. This year was another success, and we’d like to thank police cadets and Norfolk Wild Encounters for joining us.”
