The local community enjoyed a host of entertainment as part of the opening celebrations.
The Care UK team were joined by Reverend Ray Khan of St John the Baptist and St Andrews Church, who cut the ribbon alongside two of the care home’s first residents Margaret Crowther and Joyce Smith.
Other special guests at the opening included Councillor Rita Dent, who placed the final tile on the roof of the home at its topping our ceremony in October, and Patricia Jenkins, a local woman who named the care home following a regional competition.
There was plenty of fun activities for all the family, including a special baking demonstration in the dining room, mocktail making in the cinema, and roving artwork from a local silhouette artist. The D-Day Darlings, 1940s singers, entertained guests with a special performance of some of the residents’ favourite songs.
Chandler Court home manager, Jo Gill, said: “We were delighted to welcome Reverend Ray Khan to officially open the home and mark this important milestone. We would also like to thank Councillor Rita Dent, Patricia Jenkins, and everyone who visited and helped to make this such a special day.
“Since we opened the doors to Chandler Court, the residents and their families have been at the heart of everything we do, including the launch celebrations. It was fantastic to welcome so many local people to the home, our grand launch really was a day to remember.”
Those who attended the event also had the chance to meet the team at Chandler Court and take a tour of the luxury care home, as well as enjoy a selection of tasty treats made by the home’s catering team.
The new four-storey care home features 81 ensuite bedrooms, and has been designed to enable its residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence. The care home incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities and will include its own cinema, hairdressing salon and café.
