Cedrus House celebrates another successful Care Home Open Day

Home news

It was a day of celebrations at Cedrus House when it invited the local community in for a day of family fun.

The team at Cedrus House welcomed the people of Stowmarket to enjoy Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative set up to develop lasting relationships between care homes and local communities, and to dispel common myths about care home life.

The care home was draped in union jack bunting as residents and visitors donned their homemade crowns for a royal-inspired party in celebration of the Queen’s 92nd birthday.

Guests enjoyed a musical performance from saxophonist, Carl Sterling, and a special afternoon tea prepared by the home’s chefs. The residents were also joined by guests of honour, the Mayor of Stowmarket, Councillor Dave Muller, and his wife Lois Muller.

Michelle Webster, home manager at Cedrus House, said: “We had a fantastic day celebrating Care Home Open Day here at Cedrus House. The residents all really enjoyed the activities and it was brilliant to see so many of our neighbours come along for the party.

“Care Home Open Day is all about building bridges with our local community, and showing what life in a care home is really like. We would like to say a big thank you to the Mayor of Stowmarket for making the day extra special, and the people of Stowmarket for celebrating with us.”
