The team at Hartismere Place welcomed the people of Eye to enjoy Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative set up to develop lasting relationships between care homes and local communities, and to dispel common myths about care home life.
Residents and visitors celebrated the Queen’s 92nd birthday in style with a VIP reception of fizz and canapés, as well as a ‘posh frock and hat’ dress code.
Everyone was able to enjoy an afternoon watching the horse racing, special screenings of royal-themed films, and the Queen's Official Birthday Pageantry from 2017.
Visitors and residents also enjoyed a vintage afternoon tea prepared specially by the home’s chefs and the day ended with a patriotic sing-along of ‘God Save the Queen’.
Matthew Calver, home manager at Hartismere Place, said: “We had a fantastic time getting dressed up and raising a glass to the Queen for this year’s Care Home Open Day.
“It was fantastic to see so many of our neighbours join us for the occasion. The residents had a lovely time reminiscing about the Queen in her younger years. We would like to say a big thank you to the people of Eye for celebrating with us and making the day so special.”
