On Friday 20th April, from 10am, the team will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event. The day is in celebration of Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.
Glastonbury Court has organised a Commonwealth themed party to celebrate the open day, with homemade bunting, inspired by countries from around the Commonwealth, decorating the home. Visitors can look forward to sampling dishes inspired by countries from around the world including, Australia, Jamaica and South Africa. There will also be the opportunity to take part in an internationally-themed quiz and enjoy entertainment from an Elvis impersonator.
The celebrations continue on Saturday 21st April, when the care home is hosting its very own Commonwealth Games with competitions including, bean in a can, roll a coin and giant ‘Connect 4’. Glastonbury Court’s celebrations conclude on Sunday 22nd April with a ‘Music from the Commonwealth’ performance from Budgie Entertainment at 3pm.
Sharlene Van Tonder, home manager at Glastonbury Court, said: “At Glastonbury Court, we’re always looking for ways to get to know our neighbours and building relationships with the local community.
